Wrinkles gone in 30 seconds? No, thanks

It could be just us getting older and wiser… or can you feel it too?

Are you no longer sucked in by wild, crazy promises of a better you in next to no time at all?

“Lose 5 kilos in 5 days!”

“7 min abs!”

“Look 10 years younger overnight!”

We’d like to think we have gotten to know you – our savvy customers – pretty well over the last 5 years and you have given us a few clues that you’re not falling for the quick-fix, instant gratification mantra anymore.

And you know what? We’re so relieved about that, because that’s just the OPPOSITE of what Woohoo Skincare is all about.

It feels like we are gravitating towards

  • Pro-aging instead of anti-aging
  • Eating mindfully instead of fad diets
  • Exercising and moving for your health instead of bikini bodies

It doesn’t matter what stage of life you are at – having a healthy mind, body and spirit for the long term is becoming more important than dropping 5kgs in 5 days.

As great as the quick fixes and fads are, they are usually just a Band-Aid. They are usually not sustainable and their merry-go-round eventually takes us back to where we started.

The beauty world has its own fair share of miraculous wonder potions that promise overnight success, but their results are usually short-lived and not the best choice for long term healthy skin.

It takes time for skin to improve

Just like completing one 5km run doesn’t mean you run a marathon the next day, using a Vitamin C serum won’t make your age spots or wrinkles magically disappear overnight.

Beauty brands can be pretty sensationalist (like Uncle Bob reliving his fishing adventures) and exaggerate a smidgeon.

We’d like to think that Woohoo Skincare isn’t like the others. We keep it real. Woohoo Skincare products are made to be simple, elegant, and genuinely effective because they have nature’s best ingredients, and we use them at levels that are actually beneficial to your skin (we’ll never include an ingredient at a minute amount just so it can be included on an ingredients list).

But (most) improvements don’t happen overnight!

In reality, the majority of “active ingredients” (the potent ingredients that do more than just moisturise your skin like vitamins and anti-oxidants) can do what they claim, but they do take time.

Your skin renews itself about every 28 days (as you age this gets longer). So if you’re starting a new skincare routine, it’s after 28 days that your skin’s newfound health starts to reveal itself. But that’s just the beginning – you may not even see any noticeable improvements for an extra 8 weeks.

As an example, the Vitamin C we use has been shown to reduce pigmentation and fade age spots. It didn’t get the results pictured overnight. It took 3 weeks, 6 weeks and up to 16 weeks.

The information below is supplied courtesy of our Vitamin C supplier (the results are very impressive!). VC-IP is the name given to Vitamin C (Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate) in their studies. This is the very same Vitamin C that’s in the Happily Ever After Vitamin C Eye Serum, and the Perfectly Happy Light Anti-Oxidant Cream.

Now, we did mention that most improvements don’t happen overnight. That means that some improvements do happen overnight (or within a few weeks). Phew After all, you just have to read some of the reviews on the Woohoo Skincare website to hear how quickly some ladies are seeing what they describe as a complete turnaround in their skin.

Usually these types of fast improvements are happening because your skin is now beautifully hydrated, oil production is balancing out, and circulation is being improved. But it’s those pesky and persistent problems like age spots and pigmentation that you need to be patient with.

And the secret to soft, glowing skin for life is….

Skincare is more than fixes and cover-ups. It is a method of self-care that should be helping you be healthy and happy.

Look at the bigger picture and don’t get sucked in by the miracle treatments that give you results in 5 minutes. Your skincare routine is something that is meant to help you have strong, healthy, soft, glowing skin for the rest of your life.

Your skincare routine is something that you do EVERY day (we forgive you if you miss it sometimes ;)). It should be something you love to do. Use beautiful, natural, powerful ingredients. If you’re patient and stick with it, you’re sure to be rewarded in the long run.

P.S. We heard some brilliant advice from a customer recently. She said her Mum told her “always moisturise your elbows and knees”. That’s just what she did and at 50 she has the most beautiful elbows and knees going around.
